Summer 2006 Mission Trip to, Turkana District Kenya 

Our last mission trip to the Turkwel Mission in the Turkana District of Kenya was a great success.  We have finished production of our documentary film, “Finding Jesus In Turkana”.  This film features the Turkana People at worship, life, and play and the Christian works being done there by the SMA (Society of African Missions).  We owe such a debt to our Brother in Christ, Father Edward Muge, SMA for inviting us to film the works at his mission site.  The love and care we were shown in his company cannot be repaid.  We are currently scheduling showings of the film in an effort to continue fund raising efforts in the region. 

Ongoing fund raising efforts for the works there have been a tremendous success.  To date, donations approaching $20,000 have resulted in the following improvements in life at the Turkwel Mission:  

• Every school building at the Kachaimeri Primary School and the Turkana Girls School were renovated and made usable.

• Schools at the Naremit and Kalemenyung outstations were renovated.

• Seven children from the Kachaimeri Primary School have been sponsored to attend secondary schools in the region.

• Enough mosquito nets were purchased to protect each of the 400 young women at the Turkana Girls School.

• School uniforms were provided to children who could not afford them.
